2024 applications for scholarships are now open!

A high-quality, post-secondary education creates opportunities that can lead to greater personal fulfilment in life. That’s why LiUNA Local 183 created the LiUNA Local 183 Scholarship Trust Fund.

Since launching this fund in 2006, 1,020 scholarships in excess of $8.6 million have been awarded to our members, their children and their grandchildren across Canada.

Once again LiUNA Local 183 will be awarding new scholarships to help ease the financial burden of exceptional students who wish to pursue a post-secondary education, and we invite you, your children and your grandchildren to apply.

Please note, in order for your application to be considered, it must be submitted on or before July 15, 2024, by 12pm.

LifeJourney and vCare

Member Family Assistance Program (MFAP)

As part of your benefit plan, LiUNA Local 183 members now have access to LifeJourney, a new way to approach Member Family Assistance Programs (MFAP). It’s a single, integrated virtual service that provides you with 24/7 access to immediate, compassionate care directly through the vCare app.

LifeJourney works with vCare to have all your wellness resources in one place — your primary care and MFAP in one convenient app. Once you’ve activated your vCare account, you will also have access to your extended LifeJourney resources.

With LifeJourney, you and your eligible dependents will have access to a variety of resources to help with a wide range of challenges: legal and financial assistance, nutritional consultations, mental health support, and virtual care.

LiUNAcare Financial Wellness

Our goal towards building healthy futures begins with the physical, emotional, mental, and financial health of our members. That’s why we’ve introduced a secure and confidential digital tool, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, dedicated to financial health.

LiUNAcare Financial Wellness provides you with resources on a range of topics designed to educate and build financial confidence. The website includes articles, bulletins, videos, and a variety of tools to help you navigate through current events and life changes.

Privacy incident

On January 31, 2022 the Trustees were notified of a cyber breach incident involving Homewood Health in 2021 which may have affected members or their family members that accessed services through Homewood Health. Further information is available in the attached Notice to Members, including a confidential phone number to call to check if your information was accessed as part of the cyber security breach. Homewood Health is providing credit monitoring to those affected by the breach.

Please note that the Personal Health Information Protection Act provides that a complaint may be made to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) regarding this incident. Further information is available here.

Health Coaching program

A support program for members and their eligible dependents who want to focus on weight management and mindful eating. If you or an eligible family member is dealing with pre-diabetes, diabetes, obesity, or cardiovascular issues including high blood pressure or high cholesterol, this program is for you.

Your personal health coach — a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Registered Dietitian (RD) — will:

  • Analyze and review your case and assessment
  • Provide recommendations and prepare a personalized meal plan
  • Select and review resources that are pertinent for you
  • Discuss any questions and concerns you may have
  • Discuss medication adherence, particularly for those who have diabetes
  • Provide additional support and motivation, with handy tracking tools

Submitting a claim?
There's an app for that!

Submitting and tracking medical and dental claims is now quicker and easier than ever thanks to LiUNAcare Local 183 eClaims, an easy-to-use app that lets you:

  • Submit multiple receipts from a single provider in one claim
  • Receive automatic notifications when your claims are under review
  • Get real-time status updates on claims submitted
  • View your claims history
  • And more

Ready to get started? Check out the video:

Download the LiUNAcare Local 183 eClaims app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the registration instructions. Make sure you have your Member Advantage benefit card handy as you’ll be asked to provide your group number (the first six digits on your card) and certificate number (the remaining 10 digits).


Prefer to register using your computer?

That’s easy enough. Just click on the eClaims link in the top right corner of your screen, click Register account, and follow the steps.

Once you’ve registered, you’ll be able to view your monthly eligibility for benefits by clicking on the Profile icon and selecting My account. This is where you’ll also find a digital copy of your Members Advantage benefit card for future reference.


Want to submit a medical or dental claim online?

Let’s do this! Simply log into your eClaims account and click Submit a claim. You’ll be asked to provide the details of your claim and upload a photograph of your receipt. Make sure your receipt includes the patient’s name, as well as the service provider’s name, address and registration number.

If you’re submitting a claim for a service requested by a doctor’s referral, you’ll need to provide a copy of that referral. There are two ways you can do this: either upload a photo of the referral letter along with a photo of your receipt, or send a copy of it to Member Services by email or fax. If you choose to send it to Member Services, be sure to include your LiUNAcare Local 183 certificate number (the last 10 digits on your Member Advantage benefit card).


Need to submit several receipts?

No problem. You can submit multiple receipts in a single claim provided that all of the receipts come from the same provider. If you have several receipts to submit for services provided by different providers, you’ll need to submit separate claims for each provider.


Want to know the status of a payment?

Provided you’ve submitted your claim correctly, you can look forward to receiving payment within three to five business days. Payment will arrive by mail in the form of a cheque, unless you’ve set your eClaims account up for Electronic Funds Transfer.

Of course, you can check on the status any time. Simply click on the History tab in the main menu and you’ll see a list of all previously submitted claims and their respective statuses. If you want to view an explanation of benefits for a specific claim, select that claim from the list and then click EOB.

Please note: Specific cases will require an in-person medical appointment at the discretion of our healthcare providers. This service is not for emergencies — for emergencies, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Our clinicians cannot complete Workers’ Compensation forms or sick notes for more than three days.

New online payment option for self pay provisions

Should your coverage terminate because you are unemployed and have recall rights you will be given the option to continue your coverage by making self-payments to the Members Benefit Fund.

And, you can now make payments online through your financial institution. It’s as simple as paying a bill from the comfort of your home.

Please allow 48 hours to process your payment.

  1. Log into your online banking institution.
  2. Navigate to “Pay Bills” page.
  3. Select “Add Payee” and search for Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund and “Select”.
  4. Under Account Number, include your full Union ID as displayed on your Local 183 Union Card.
  5. Select “Pay this Payee” and make your monthly benefit payment of $102.60, or as listed on your friendly reminder notice.
  6. You will receive a confirmation number when payment is made. Please keep this number for your reference.

Vacation pay, your way.

Vacation pay is held on behalf of LiUNAcare Local 183 members and paid from LiUNAcare annually in the month of June. However, if you prefer to receive payouts throughout the year, there are two easy ways to apply:

  1. Complete and submit an online application using the Vacation Pay Submission Tool.

  2. Print and complete a Vacation Pay Withdrawal Application form and submit by

If you notice any discrepancies with your vacation pay amount, please print and complete a Vacation Pay Problem form and submit, along with copies/scans of pay stubs for all work months, via email, fax or mail.

Important Member Advantage Photo Card Reminder

New Member Advantage Photo Cards were mailed to all eligible LiUNA Local 183 members and their eligible spouses on August 1, 2020. These new cards replace all previous versions of benefit cards.

If the latest card you received does not have a photograph, you are required to either have your photo taken at your local LiUNA Local 183 office OR submit your own photo through our secure Member Card Photo Submission page. The same applies to all eligible spouses or common law partners.
